megan-edwards

Megan Edwards

Coming from a background in the fibre arts and in history, I find the tactile nature of fabric and its place as a highly prized commodity used to demonstrate cultural achievement fascinating. From finely woven threads of gold to the re-piecing of frayed and worn Japanese workers’ clothes, fabric speaks of its national ancestry. Re-imagining such variable subject matter allows me to explore the many wonderful processes available to the printmaker.

Art Education

School of Colour and Design Australia:

Certificate III in Applied Colour & Design (2001)

Diploma in Creative Visual Arts (2002)

Since 2005 I have attended many short-course (8 week) and weekend printmaking workshops. These include a number of Japanese woodblock and linocut printmaking courses with Roslyn Kean at Ku-ring-gai Art Centre, Roseville, and at the Stables Print Studio at Galston.

Over several years I have also attended a number of weekend aluminium etching workshops and collograph workshops with Bernhardine Mueller and Madeleine Szymanski at Ku-ring-gai Art Centre, Roseville and with Robin Ezra and Annie Day at the Milk Factory Gallery in Bowral.

I have also attended a number of photopolymer workshops with Seraphina Martin at the Megalo Print Studios, Canberra, with Annie Day and Robin Ezra at the Milk Factory Gallery, Bowral and with Dianne Longley at the Stables Print Studio, Galston.

My general art education has been helped greatly by Lyndal Beck’s “Objective to Abstract” course at Ku-ring-gai Art Centre, Roseville and my love of bookmaking improved by attending a number of book-making courses held by Roslyn Kean and Jan Melville.

I currently print weekly at the Stables Print Studio with Roslyn Kean as mentor and have participated in 2013\14 in a mentoring program with Bernhardine Mueller at the Centre House Art Centre, Lane Cove.
